Makerspace
Attendees:  Erin (CNAQ) Romany (Calgary) Nerine (ISL Qatar)


Encouraging ceativity through to adulthood
Give students the possibility of following their passion/interests
Create a balance bewteen curriculum and some relaxation/creativity.

CNAQ - Skills competition interdepartmental - library will set up a maker space :


Makey-makey station
Ozobots
Bookmaking
Paper roller coasters
Mobile device station sand box
Holograms  from a mobile phone Youtube video with directions

Calgary  - looking for ways of incorportaing making into academic programme.

Practical aspects:
    Storage
    Tidying up
    Economical use of materials
    Encourage independence in students
    
    
    Makerspace needs to be a place where you can do anything and nothing is right or wrong - encourage experimentation
    Acceptance of mess - messy clothes
    
    Makerspace Camp - full day of making for whole school
    
    Keep stats of how much it is used - age groups/activitites
