How did scientists learn open science?
- Mostly by themselves
- Sometimes through colleagues
- Open Science Radio!
- Self reflexion how to see yourself, what scientist you want to be?
- The usual fear of being scooped
- Break open closed data, try to make open
Get students as early as possible
- courses, use possibilities (info lunch meetings)
- Use tools like etherpad (http://etherpad.org/) and collaborative tools (Wikis)
- Learn collaborative work, team work
- Incentives needed (rate collaborative work)
- Privacy issue
- Careful to have arguments if some Open Science tools (communication etc.) are important
- Impliment tools that are not only important for science but also for industry etc.
Data that is publically funded should be open
- Interaction between different science fields importat
- Too many closed communities
- Librarians could work as service providers and teach open science aspects
- Marketing important, best practice examples
- Also perspective of general public data
- Participation, basis democracy
- Tools important for later in life
- Citizen Science
- What are the costs of Open Science
- Also train the trainers
- Open communication
- Bottom-up approach
- Be a good example and also open your teaching material
- Freedom of science (Freiheit der Wissenschaft/Lehre) should not block
- Needs a culture change for professors at universities, Research funders (e.g. DFG)
