q_cabin_3 SESSION A: FOOD IN LIBRARIES

The question of food being allowed or not ties into the enternal question on what a library is supposed to look like and what a library is (activities, noise, smells etc)

Kitchen for users in Sweden, Finland and Denmark
for ex '10-13' library and new Kista Library in Stockholm, Myllepyrro library in Helsinki,

Restaurant on the 7th floor at the Openbare bibliotheek Amsterdam

Event about India in the library

Closed containers allowed in most Swedish academic libraries. Also access to microwaveovens for heating lunch

SESSION B: GLAM (Gallery Libraries Archives Museums)

the participants share stories about cooperative projects they had
- stockholm library cooperates with a museum, but its hang up at very high hierarchy
- maybe problem is, that the managers dont have a direct look on the daily work at the basis of library or museum...
- good idea would be to send staff from the library to the museum or partner and the other way around-- traineeship for a couple of weeks
- calgary: projects with the city

Why don't we pay for professional work instead of doing a bad project ourselves. We need to look for expertise outside of the library setting.
Funding fatalism
Curators in the libraries?

The mindset:
How do we evaluate success coming out of partnership
What's the value of our services? How do we communicate that?
Are we doing partnerships because we want value from others or because we believe we have something valuable to share?
