Discussion (30 min) - Citizen Science and Open Science
- Pawel Szczesny: I would like to summarize my work concerning the strategies for promotion of open science. As you may have noticed, "taxpayers money" argument isn't having the same power outside anglosphere, as it has in US or UK. I was working towards leveraging citizen science as a means to spread acceptance of open science principles among scientists. Basically, there is much smaller resistance to "openness" if citizens are participating in the research, than it is when only "mysterious taxpayer" pays for it. Also, this angle opens some interesting opportunities for funding of open citizen science projects.
