cbrmapjam Intro
OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a community generated global map. Over the past 10 years, it has grown to cover some of the remotest areas of the world whilst also adding a very detailed community flare right here in Canberra.
Companies like Facebook, Apple and MapBox have reused the data to bring extra value to their users. In turn, many companies and governments have contributed valuable data resources and imagery to help the project grow.
One of OSM's proudest intitives is the Humanitarian OSM Team (HOT) which encourages a surge of trained OSM users to rapidly (re)develop maps of infrastructure during a major crisis such as flood or earthquake https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Humanitarian_OSM_Team

What to map?
The shareable economy, if defined in economic terms, will be based on a market which trades on economic goods. Public goods, such as parks, are a part of this economy. Social goods and goods provided via welfare distribution networks can also be included.

There are many existing networks of entities that already facilitate trade of goods within a shareable economy. The nodes which are important to the logistics of such trade can be identified and mapped. A benefit may be found via this communication alone. However, the secondary benefit may be that the nodes can be reorganised to supply new forms of trade.

Public assets which provide a service, even if they are not part of a trade network, should also be mapped as a relevant node within the shareable economy. Examples include park benches, tables, playgrounds.

Existing networks, such as book sharing clubs, could be mapped. It would be nice to try and map events, even if there are peer to peer events rather than group events. If the event does not have a physical location it may still have a temporal location that can be mapped. Or, a little work could be done to map the nodes on either side of the event. For example, a person in Hawker traded with a person in Holder to complete a share event.
