- Sydney planning to start monthly activities, in touch with Open Australia & Budget Aus
5. Planning actions
- Assisting with GovHack 2016 by 2016 we should be ready to take over from NICTA book-keeping & admin. MP adds that OKAu will need an administrative capability - perhaps employ community manager
- Clarifying the role of the OKAU Board in context of the OKAU Community - supporting range of community organisations but how can the board support? Admin, book-keeping, insurance etc. Board to provide support, local groups to be the 'voice'
- Rotation of Board members - shouldbe 18 mos to 2 year terms? Seek
nominatins for board members. 8 board positions, rotate 2 positions every 3 months, (FT & ms thinks this is too short) could result in 100% refresh in a year. Ability to re-nominate and stay on. Way of making sure that board members are active. 6 monthly? 12 monthly? - steven to create blog post for community Suggest that positions such as Treasurer and Chair should be appointed for a minimum of 12 months
- SDC suggests that we open up process via blog; nominations open to anyone, voting by board members, local & topic ambassadors, weighted votes to general community?
- Development of funding program SDC talking to Partner & Prosper re sponsorship program, SDC considering making a loan to OKAu to get funding program underway, GovHack to be one thing we do over the annual program - include local meetups & other activities. MS raises negotiations with ThoughtWorks re ongoing support - SDC & MS to follow up how these might link up. Down the line may need policies around what we fund and how we meet obligations ongoing
- Supporting ambassadors clarification of role of the board, better able to support local ambassadors. Need board to be supporting ambassadors, encouraging them to blog. Fiona: would like to see support for ambassadors to join red carpet event for post-event get-together.
- Local and collective funds - how managed/ divided? Event vs community building
6. Other business
- Interaction with international OK organisation How to fund international interaction, do we want to participate in working groups. SDC suggests we should support those who want to be involved. Up to the community to self-nominate, board should amplify
- MP suggests Hack longevity should be our priority for the year ahead - use the GovHack annual report as more of a showcase of activity
- HealthHack 2015 and beyond - MS updates that it is going to happen, will be late October (probably) by date TBC. FT co-ordinating, will be in Melb, Syd, Perth, Brisbane
- OKFest - Aust to host APAC, OK central may be able to give some $, SDC talking to CSIRO, NZ govt. Have a meetup post GovHack redcarpet for some discussion & plannning Possible date of April 2016
- Questions from audience/community
- Further discussion on any previous items
- FT: leftover GovHack $ for community events? SDC: will post on blog about state of the world as soon as bank accounts are all sorted, now we're incorporated.
- SDC asks for minutes to be approved ASAP, NG agrees, says we should aim for 1 week post meeting
