OFF COMMUNICATION PUZZLE
Date: 2015-02-13
Attendees : Cédric Lombion, Stéphane Gigandet, ! Mohammed Hashim Kambal, Simone Casciaroli, Vince, Flo (kyzh)
Topics : What are the goals and needs of Open Food Facts? Which communication tools are in use? Who are OFF target audiences?
To understand the process: https://files.slack.com/files-pri/T02KVRT1Q-F03FZ6C8S/communication_workflow.png
We are in part 1 of the following process:
1. List all target audiences (the ones you have and the ones you want)
2. List all user stories by guessing/experience
3. Discuss with users to add/verify user stories
4. Check the navigation data to add/verify user stories
5. Rank all user stories by balancing impact and project constraints (e.g.
philosophical choices)
6. Match user stories with theorical optimal solutions (feature or changes in the way the information is provided)
7. Evaluate how easy it is to accomplish each user story with testing and data
8. Check the evaluations against the optimal theorical solutions to highlight pain points and potential improvements
9. Decide on which improvements to prioritize by balancing impact and resource constraints (i.e. time required)
10. Plan sprints of improvements (only here we start discussing tools and such)
11. Gather feedback after each sprint
# MAIN GOALS (directly linked to the mission of OFF)
Make it easy to contribute data to the database
Being an exhaustive platform that works well for developers
Allow for obvious uses with the data
Providing a toolbox to help make sense of the data
NEEDS / CONSTRAINTS
Provide a barebone experience to avoid competing with other products/platforms that could contribute to the project
So the database should have a critical mass in terms of products before being appealing to contributors
We don't want to take money from producers or retailers.
We can't allow people to express personal opinion about products
...
