Quotes
- [On Minecraft Connected Camps] "BusterPlax has been so excited about learning how to code and I mean seriously excited. He says that everyone was really nice and very helpful and he loved every minute of it. So, we are all very thankful for all the work you did on the Coding Camp. You all have magically found a way to bring excitement to discovery and that is something rare." Philip Millenbah, Parent (of BusterPlax)
- “Our focus should not be on emerging technologies, but on emerging cultural practices.” Henry Jenkins
- “Owning pipelines, people, products, or even intellectual property is no longer the key to success. Openness is.” Jeff Jarvis
- "In this new world of computing, we're no longer expected to manage our computing environment. We trust the feudal lords to treat us well and potent us from harm” -- Bruce Schneier
- "Freedom depends on the information environment that those individuals and societies occupy. Information underlies the very possibility of individual self-direction” Yoshi Benkler 2006
- "The pigeon. The object of technological experimentation, manipulation, and control, weaponized. The pigeon. The child. The object of ed-tech. The pigeon. The history of the future of education technology." Audrey Watters
- "There’s no sort of "this is the link that is the best link." It’s the best link for you. And the definition of what the best link for you is, is the thing that you’re the most likely to click. So, it’s not necessarily what you need to know; it’s what you want to know, what you’re most likely to click." Eli Pariser
- "You can have anonymous data or you can have open science, but you can't have both." Justin Reich in "Privacy, Anonymity, and Big Data in the Social Sciences"; http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/edtechresearcher/2014/08/privacy_anonymity_and_big_data_in_the_social_sciences.html
Audience: Thoughts with regards to certain stakeholder groups can be organized and collected here.
- Open data policy > consequences of job search after study
- Way to work truely anonymously:
- privacy > publishing
- ...But then you are not working in the open
- Being able to work and publish anonymously, but then being able to claim your work as yours.
- Software to disguise writing patterns ---> working cooperatively to disguise individual patterns (onion principle) > like Tor
- Cryptography/scrambling
- reclaiming work at a later point
