Open API: http://www.avointuntimittaus.fi/demo.htm
Los Angeles visualization: http://sustainablecommunities.environment.ucla.edu/map/http://sustainablecommunities.environment.ucla.edu/map/
User DIY example from Finland. Consumption and spot price: http://lampopumput.info/foorumi/index.php?topic=17709.msg224362#msg224362
It's  time to use the data. (this is perhaps something that should be  mentioned in opening of the hackathon). Cost of remote metering  installations in Finland is 600-700 million euros: http://www.stek.fi/sahkomarkkinat/sahkon_oston_perusteita/fi_FI/sahkon_mittaaminen/
Fingrid data, total electricity production and consumption: http://www.fingrid.fi/fi/sahkomarkkinat/kulutus-ja-tuotanto/Sivut/default.aspx
Example from Germanly: Electricity production from different souces: http://www.transparency.eex.com/de/

Ideas for the Hackathon?

Recent report of decentralised solar power could be quite a problem for large scale energy company incomes.

ENERGY HACK KEY WORDS
production,  consumption, social justice, data, games, peoples energy market, energy  footprint, switches, metering, emotions and energy, business, two way  information flows,

IDEAS FROM PARTICIPANTS:

Existing and new green building designs. Linking this data to LEED and BREEAM rating systems.

Energy usage data, power failure data
Visualization of solar energy production in Finland.

I   would like to record short videos of the projects that can be used by   the participants in exchange for open further use later on online and   maybe in TV and on screen.

"1.   General visualisation of consumption habits over longer periods of   time. Allow people to compare particular weekdays/weekends over a  longer  period of time.

2.   Ambient energy consumption display - eg. a light display of some sort,   which can act as a decorative item, but also enlighten people about   their energy consumption habits. "

I'd   like to make people proud of saving energy, using and producing   renewable energy. How to make this fun, easy to understand and  something  that you can share with your neighbors and followers in  social media.  (I don't have ready made answer to these questions.)

3. Visualization of energy production (fossil+renewable+nuclear+import) and possibly consumption ( industry+consumers+export)

4. Compare your own electricity bill to ""real market price"" i.e. spot price
-upload hourly consumption data
-nordpool spot price used
-compare to current provider kwh price
(Helen has something like this for energy users who buy more than distribution from Helen, but available not all utilities)"

I  am still new at the energy questions. I have been using Helen's sävel   and participated in Karthikeya's and Samir's installation. I'd like to   dig more into what energy consumption data and info would be useful to   have on a daily basis and what choices and actions could they affect.

3. Functional energy use
